FAQs

Q: When winter comes, what measures are taken to prevent the water meter from freezing?

A: Water meter anti-freeze measures are coming. Winter is coming, the temperature drops, water meters and pipes are frozen, and you can’t use water when you open the faucet, which brings great inconvenience to your life. Moreover, a large number of water meters and pipes are frozen in a concentrated period of time, and it is not possible for a short time. Difficult to defrost. At the same time, because the plastic parts in the water meter are immersed in water, the water freezes and expands when the temperature is too low, which can easily cause damage to the water meter, or even explosion. Therefore, in order to ensure normal water use and avoid unnecessary economic losses, water meters and pipelines should take protective measures before winter every year. The following methods can be used to prevent freezing: 1. Prevent outdoor water meters from freezing. Before winter, the inside of the water meter well should be thoroughly cleaned and repaired to ensure that there is no water accumulation in the water meter well. The water supply facilities in the water meter well should be intact and without leaks. If the water supply facility is damaged, report it for repair as soon as possible; Make a cold-proof mat the same size as the water meter well: Choose a plastic snakeskin bag or straw bag with dry straw or homemade cotton pad inside, put it into the meter well and cover it flat, you can also buy asphalt glass Cotton felt, which is both cold-proof and moisture-proof; the outside of the upper cover of the water meter well and the surrounding area of the water meter well should be covered with dry furnace slag or a straw shirt; if there is no meter well and the water meter is completely exposed and leaking outdoors, you can use old cotton clothes and other materials to cover the water meter and the pipes at both ends of the water meter. Wrap it well (the wrapping should be convenient for card insertion and other operations) and seal it with plastic sheeting to prevent rainwater leakage. 2. To protect indoor water meters from the cold, water pipes, water meters, faucets and other water facilities at home can be wrapped with cotton and linen fabrics and plastic foam; windows in the kitchen, toilet and all shady rooms should be closed at night to ensure that the indoor temperature is above zero; It is best to open the faucet slightly after using water at night to make the water flow into a line to ensure the flow of tap water in the water pipe to prevent freezing at night; or directly close the valve in front of the water meter, and then open the faucet to drain the remaining water in the pipe. 3. Cold-proofing of outdoor water pipes The user shall jointly keep warm the water pipes exposed on the wall at the stairway of the unit. Fasten the water pipes on the wall with wooden boards or buckle boards, leaving a certain gap inside. Fill around the gap with fillers such as sawdust, rice husk asphalt glass fiber, asphalt glass wool felt, etc. 4. Thaw the water meter. If the water supply facility cannot be used normally due to freezing, first wrap the faucet with a towel, etc., and then pour warm water (about 30°C) along the faucet to the water pipe to thaw it. Do not grill it with fire or irritate it with boiling water. Do not burn to avoid bursting pipes or meters. Indoor pipeline freezing can also be thawed by raising the room temperature. At the same time, users should be prepared to store water at night, preferably hot water, so as not to cause inconvenience to life in the early morning of the next day. 5. Water pipe rupture When an indoor water pipe ruptures, please turn off the valve in front of the water meter to stop the water! If this does not work, tie the ruptured area firmly with a cloth strip, perform emergency treatment, and then contact the maintenance department for repair. The calibration and maintenance of water meters should be carried out by the Quality and Technical Supervision Water Meter Calibration Authorized Station. Users are advised not to disassemble or replace the water meter or replace the meter glass. Except for the staff of the Water Supply Co., Ltd., other personnel have no authority to touch the meter. Otherwise, it will be dealt with as a violation.

Q: What should I pay attention to when installing a water meter?

A: Common sense of installation 1. Clean the pipeline before installing the water meter. Before installing the water meter on the pipeline (especially the newly installed pipeline), the dirt in the pipeline should be removed (washed with water) to avoid blockage, affecting water quality and causing pollution. In addition, to ensure the accuracy of water meter measurement, there are also requirements for water sources. The ideal water source should be clean. If there are many impurities in the water, when the water flows through the water meter, these dirt will adhere to the impeller of the water meter or the wall of the water meter, causing the impeller to rotate inflexibly or the flow rate in the metering area to become faster, making the measurement Inaccurate, and damage the water meter. Sometimes, the water source is clean, but the inner wall of the water pipeline is dirty, which eventually leads to a decline in water quality. 2. Horizontal water meters should be installed horizontally. If the horizontal water meter is installed at an angle or even vertically, it will not only affect the measurement accuracy of the water meter, but also shorten the service life of the water meter. Some data show that if a water meter with a diameter of 15mm is tilted at 1000 liters/hour, the error will increase by 1% if it is tilted 45° laterally, and the error will increase by 3% if it is tilted 45° longitudinally; at 180 liters/hour Under normal circumstances, if the horizontal tilt is 45°, the error will increase by more than 5%, and if the vertical tilt is 45°, the error will increase by 20% or even more. 3. When installing a water meter, the requirements for the length of the upstream straight pipe section and the length of the downstream straight pipe section are taken as an example for a water meter with a diameter of 15mm. The upstream should have at least a 150mm straight pipe section, and the downstream should have at least a 75mm straight pipe section. Otherwise, it will affect Water meter measurement accuracy. The air contained in the water will also affect the measurement accuracy of the water meter. Air mixed in the water will often stay in the upper regulator and other higher spaces of the water meter, directly causing the water meter to over-count. Not only that, the air hidden inside the water meter will also weaken the counterattack effect of the regulator on the water, further increasing the indicated water volume of the water meter.

Q: My water meter has no shut-off valve. Where can I buy water?

A: The management methods of each community or household are different. Generally, if a household is not sure where to top up and buy water, they can contact the property management department first. Our company is a water meter manufacturer and does not provide water recharge management.
